DMAN trains Saudi engineers on SCM & MRO

Celle, 28 March 2013 – Engineers from three large Saudi companies participated in a special Supply Chain Management & MRO qualification course initiated by Deutsche Management Akademie Niedersachsen (DMAN) and its partner and shareholder V-Line Europe.

The qualification course meets current market requirements, supports the knowledge transfer with Saudi Arabia, and opens new career perspectives for the participating engineers. Its tailor-made programme combines a 10-day seminar in Riyadh, which took place in March, with a 5-day training and visiting module in Celle, scheduled for June 2013.

The seminar content ranges from supply chain management (SCM) basics to industrial maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) supply processes. The lectures are held by Professor Werner Ullmann and Professor Rudolf Menne, two international business experts and university professors from MCS Automotive GmbH, the Wolfsburg-based management consulting company.

Saudi engineers of three renowned organizations – the National Water Company (NWC), the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) and the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) – participated in the first phase of the training.

The attendees particularly appreciated the combination of theoretical knowledge and practical examples that helped them make the connection with their daily work.

Professor Werner Ullmann, who gave the SCM lectures, was impressed by the participants’ competency: “All the workshop participants quickly recognized the significance which the seminar content potentially has for their specific tasks. The team thoroughly discussed the simulation game with its hands-on case studies and concrete calculations, and they easily transferred the results to their respective work environments.”

“In addition to their remarkable learning progress, the group also developed a good team spirit,” says Yousef Nahhas, DMAN project manager who had organized the seminar. “They wish to stay in contact after the seminar, which we will happily facilitate.”

On the completion of their 10-day seminar in Riyadh, the attendees received diplomas in supply chain management. In a ceremony held at the seminar hotel, these seminar certificates were handed out by Abdullah Al-Hussayen, Saudi Minister of Water and Electricity, V-Line CEO Detlev Daues, and DMAN project manager Yousef Nahhas. All the participants plan to attend the second part of this programme in June. It will consist of two seminar days, where the group will refresh and deepen their SCM/MRO know-how, and information visits to German logistics companies, where they can study best practices on site.

DMAN Director Ralf Othmer is pleased with the results of the SCM/MRO qualification programme: “This seminar, which has been very well received by our Saudi customers, is another major step in our efforts to strengthen and develop our business with Saudi Arabia. I wish to thank Detlev Daues for his initiative and support of this project, and look forward to more joint programmes with our partner and shareholder V-Line Europe.”
